House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi tells consumers to take their Obamacare medicine...

After all, liberals know what's good for you...

Nancy Pelosi via The Hill:
"While you might like your old plan, what you're going to get under the new plan is that [it does] not discriminate on the basis of pre-existing conditions, does not deny you a key benefit like ... maternal, mental health or prescription drug coverage and cannot drop you when you are sick," Pelosi said during a press conference in the Capitol.
"These are part of the 'patients' bill of rights,' which is a vast improvement over other plans."

Fail: Only six people enrolled on the first day Obamacare website went live...

I'll bet they all got a big subsidy. No wonder the Obama administration wont tell us the enrollment numbers.
(CBS News) WASHINGTON - For 31 days now, the Obama administration has been telling us that Americans by the millions are visiting the new health insurance website, despite all its problems.
But no one in the administration has been willing to tell us how many policies have been purchased, and this may be the reason: CBS News has learned enrollments got off to an incredibly slow start.
Early enrollment figures are contained in notes from twice-a-day "war room" meetings convened within the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services after the website failed on Oct. 1. They were turned over in response to a document request from the House Oversight Committee.
The website launched on a Tuesday. Publicly, the government said there were 4.7 million unique visits in the first 24 hours. But at a meeting Wednesday morning, the war room notes say "six enrollments have occurred so far.

Strange: Muslim SAUDI sheikh issues fatwa against traveling to Mars...

How about a fatwa against suicide bombers traveling to Heaven?

Via News.au:
A SAUDI sheikh has issued a fatwa against anyone wanting to travel to Mars.
A member Saudi Arabia’s board of religious scholars Sheikh Ali al Hemki has criticised the Mars One project which is attempting to organise a commercial mission to the red planet and has drawnexpressions of interest from more than 200 thousand people worldwide.
The Ah Hayat newspaper quotes him as saying the mission does not conform to “responsible Muslim” practices.
“These experiments will lead to the destruction of those who try,” and so should be done with animals, not people,” he said.

Vermont's Obamacare Exchange Is Broken Too...

It allegedly cost $170 million.

Via Rutland Herald:
On Sept. 12 the nationally known consulting group Gartner Inc. delivered a report to the federal Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The report assessed the operational readiness of the various state health insurance exchanges as the Obamacare-mandated launch date — Oct. 1 — approached.
Vermont Health Connect, the state’s $170 million exchange, is “one of the most functional in the country,” according to Gov. Peter Shumlin. That’s conceivably true, since most if not all of the other exchanges are in serious trouble, but the Gartner report concluded that Vermont Health Connect “should be considered in RED status due to significant risks to meeting the Oct. 1 deadline for Go-Live.”
The statutory deadline of Oct. 1 has long since gone by, but Vermont Health Connect remains essentially inoperative. You can review the Obamacare-approved insurance plans offered for 2014, but you can’t buy one. Kyle Midura of WCAX-TV observed on the Oct. 18 “Vermont This Week” program that site visitors “almost inevitably get an error message.”

Gun company 'American Tactical Imports' abandons New York...

American Tactical Imports (ATI) is moving to south Carolina. It's a great state. Let's wish them well.
American Tactical Imports (ATI) is the latest gun manufacturing company to flee New York’s draconian gun laws for safer grounds, citing the state’s passage of the SAFE Act and Summerville, South Carolina’s proximity to the port-of-entry for several of their imported products.
The move will bring more than 115 jobs to South Carolina where locals are supportive of the company’s move.  ”The people of South Carolina have welcomed ATI with open arms and we are excited about making our new corporate home there,” said company president Tony DiChario.  ATI will invest nearly $3 million in Summerville, a Charleston suburb.

Obamacare is losing support among women...

Single men use very little healthcare and are mostly ignoring Obamacare. many women who supported Obama and Obamacare were looking forward to having their insurance lowered like Obama promised. The promise of lower premiums was another Obama lie. Now that women are finding out they are going to have to help pay for Obamacare, their support is flagging.

Via NBC News:
The number of respondents who said the law was a good or bad idea was relatively unchanged from earlier this month. But support for the law has slipped with one key group – women, who traditionally rank health care as a higher priority than men, and who are seen as an important plank in selling the law.
Americans called it a bad idea by a 47-37 percent margin – a shift from 43-38 percent earlier this month. But among women, a group President Barack Obama won by 11 points in 2012, just 38 percent think it’s a good idea, while 45 percent do not. That’s down from early October, when most women said the law was a good idea by a 41-39 percent margin.

Administration's Benghazi storyline takes another hit...

Hmm...

Via The Washington Times:
Masked from public view, two of the U.S. military’s elite special operations commandos have been awarded medals for bravery for a mission that further undercuts the Obama administration’s original story about the Benghazi tragedy.
For months, administration officials have claimed no special operations forces were dispatched from outside Libya to Benghazi during the Sept. 11, 2012, al Qaeda terrorist attacks on the U.S. diplomatic mission and CIA annex because none was within range.
The Pentagon, under intense public criticism for not coming to the aid of besieged Americans, published an official timeline in November that carefully danced around the issue.[...]
But sources directly familiar with the attack tell The Washington Times that a unit of eight special operators — mostly Delta Force and Green Beret members — were in Tripoli the night of the attack, on a counterterrorism mission that involved capturing weapons and wanted terrorists from the streets and helping train Libyan forces.
When word of the Benghazi attack surfaced, two members of that military unit volunteered to be dispatched along with five private security contractors on a hastily arranged flight from Tripoli to rescue Americans in danger, the sources said, speaking only on the condition of anonymity because the special operations forces’ existence inside Libya was secret.

Stupid: 27 RINO Senators who voted for debt ceiling increase have now voted to disapprove their previous vote...

Congresswoman Renee Ellmers Asks Sebelius, "To the best of your knowledge has a man ever delivered a baby?“

Single young men are now required to pay for maternity coverage.
“Correct me if I’m wrong, do men not have to cover maternity coverage?… We’re forcing them to buy things that they will never need. To the best of your knowledge has a man ever delivered a baby?
You can hear people snickering.

Incompetence: HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius doesn't know about Obamacare plans include abortion

As big an issue as this is, you would think this would be clearly identified on the website.  Appearently, the Obama administration overlooked this and HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius hasn't given it any thought.

Obama to people he lied to about losing their health plans: Companies will offer plans in their place

Obama thinks people losing their health plans are being misled. He is right and he is the one doing the misleading.

Via National Journal:
President Obama today addressed concerns over people being dropped from their health care insurance plans since the implementation of Obamacare. Certain people who had purchased individual insurance plans, in recent weeks, are finding out that such plans are not compliant with the new law. And some of these people will have to pay more for upgraded plans.
Critics of the administration, and fact checkers at publications like The Washington Post, are saying this is a direct contradiction of the president’s campaign promise that “if you like your plan, you can keep it” under Obamacare.
Addressing these concerns, the president said these dropped customers should use the new insurance marketplace to buy better plans. This, meanwhile, was after an admission that such marketplaces barely work. The president said that anyone ‘peddling the notion’ that insurers are summarily dropping people is being disingenuous, because the companies will offer plans in place. “if you leave that stuff out, you’re being grossly misled.”

Why excluding pre-existing conditions isn't the good part of Obamacare...

I have heard many people, even Republicans and Obamacare opponents, claim prohibiting charging more or denying insurance for pre-existing conditions is a good part of the Affordable Healthcare Act. This may make sense from a compassionate point of view, but from a practical point of view it is the root of what is wrong with Obamacare. Democrats and Obamacare supporters claim allowing these people into insurance pools spreads the risk. That is disingenuous and shows a complete lack of how insurance is supposed to work. Insurance spreads the risk for qualifying events whether it be a medical problem as in health insurance or a car wreck covered under Automobile insurance. If you allow people who have already had a qualifying event to join a risk pool and have those events covered, that's not spreading the risk through insurance. It's redistribution of the wealth. Period. Allowing these sick people to join the pools without any exclusions or premium increases is what forced the hated mandate strategy. Democrats needed healthy young people in the pools with the sick. It also caused the Obama administration to write the regulations for grandfathered policies in a way that forced many of them to be canceled. They needed these peole in the pools with the sick. Even with the mandates and policy cancellations, Obamacare is still forcing premiums up. The expected higher premiums caused the writers of the law to put in subsidies of up to 400% of the poverty level. Then, in order to claim the law wouldn't explode the federal deficit, new taxes had to be levied, Medicare had to be cut and death panels had to be instituted. All these problems tie back to giving people with pre-existing conditions a heavily subsidized ride. The truth is 85% of Americans had health coverage they were satisfied with. A large portion of the remaining 15% were healthy young people who didn't feel the need for insurance. To sell the law, democrats love to trot out a cancer patient they claim can't get insurance. The truth is many of the people with pre-existing conditions are diabetic due to obesity, have serious heart of lung problems from smoking too many years or are alcohol or drug abusers. Is it fair or even logical to shake up the whole health care and insurance system because of a small percentage of the population?

Video of the Day: Ted Cruz Tells Trayvon's Mother Why Stand Your Ground Laws Can't Possibly Be 'Racist'

10/29/13 - Sybrina Fulton, the mother of Trayvon Martin, who was shot and killed by George Zimmerman in early 2012, appeared on Capitol Hill Tuesday for a hearing regarding the controversial "Stand Your Ground" laws. When it came time for Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) to speak at the hearing, he informed the still-grieving mother that Stand Your Ground laws actually benefit African-Americans as much as, if not more than, they do whites.[...]
Cruz also cited the fact that "in 2004 a state senator in Illinois by the name of Barack Obama co-sponsored an expansion of Illinois' law providing civil immunity for those who use justifiable force to defend themselves" as evidence that similar laws could not possibly be racially biased. "The notion that stand your ground laws are some form of veiled racism may be a convenient political attack," he said, "but it is not borne out by the facts remotely."

Congratulations: If you are a taxpayer, your share of the federal-debt liability is $1.1 million

We have sold out our children's future. Each taxpayer has a federal-debt liability is $1.1 million.
Each U.S. taxpayer now has a federal-debt liability of $1.1 million, and rising.
Remember that when President Obama boasts that the federal deficit—the shortfall between annual revenues and spending—is declining. Of course, the primary reason for the decline is the sequester, which was his idea but now adamantly opposes.
The public tends to focus on the total national debt, which just passed the $17 trillion mark—up from $10.6 trillion when President Obama took office. But that figure pales in comparison to the federal government’s long term unfunded liabilities—money the government is obligated to pay over and above the revenues it is estimated to receive.
According to the U.S. Debt Clock, total long term unfunded liabilities are at $126 trillion, a $1.1 million liability for each U.S. taxpayer.
The main driver of that astronomical number is two of our major entitlement programs: Social Security and Medicare.

MSNBC Video: Numerous Examples Of Obama Appearing To Be Left In The Dark

MSNBC? Oh my! I knew Obama is clueless, but I didn't expect MSNBC to realize it.

Rasmussen asks voters who they agree with more politically: Obama 42%, Tea Party 42%

Wow!

Via Rasmussen:
Voters are evenly divided when asked whether they agree more politically with President Obama or with the average member of the Tea Party. But an enormous partisan gap colors virtually all opinions of the Tea Party.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 42% of Likely U.S. Voters think the president’s views are closest to their own when it comes to the major issues facing the country. But just as many (42%) say their views come closest to those of the average Tea Party member instead. Sixteen percent (16%) are not sure.

Did the Obama administration make NBC pull story about people losing their healthcare plan?

NBC's story about how the Obama administration has known for three years people will lose their healthcare plans under Obamacare disappeared down the Internet rabbit hole.

NBC claims it was a glitch and published it under a new url. They changed part of it without note or comment as to the reason why. They removed the section that explained people couldn't keep their healthcare plan because of regulations written by the Obama administration after Obamacare passed. They are now claiming people are losing thier plans because of normal insurance turnover. This is the administration line lie. Somebody has made this lapdog heel. Screenshot of changes via WZ:

Update: NBC has added the deleted key text back in. Still no comment on why it was removed.

Tweet of the Day: Valerie Jarrett blames insurance companies for you not keeping your healthcare plan

The truth is the old plans don't meet the requirements of the new Obamacare, including maternity care for men and the elderly. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) allows people to keep their grandfathered plans, but the Obama administration wrote the regulations for that provision so severe almost no one can keep their plan in practice. That's not the insurance companies fault. Valerie Jarrett has chosen to pee on our leg and tell us it's raining.

Change: Obama give people six extra weeks to sign up for his overpriced Obamacare health insurance

Unless you are getting free Medicaid, get a large subsidy and take a silver plan have really serious pre-existing conditions, Obamacare is a really bad deal for you.An extra six weeks won't change that math.

Via AP:
With website woes ongoing, the Obama administration Monday granted a six-week extension until March 31 for Americans to sign up for coverage next year and avoid new tax penalties under the president’s health care overhaul law.
The move had been expected since White House spokesman Jay Carney promised quick action last week to resolve a “disconnect” in the implementation of the law.
It comes as technical problems continue to trouble the website designed as the main enrollment portal for people who don’t get health care at work.
As a consequence, Republican lawmakers, and some Democrats as well, are calling for a one-year delay in the penalties most Americans will face starting next year if they remain uninsured. Monday’s action by the administration stops well short of that, and amounts only to a limited adjustment

Obama knew many people couldn't keep their plans and wrote regulations to force more off their pre-Obamacare plans

This isn't a conspiracy. It's a fact. Obama told a baldfaced lie to the American people about keeping their health insurance plan if they like their plan and, then, wrote regulations to force even more off their pre-Obamacare health insurance plans. The logic behind this was undoubtedly to force healthier and younger people off their old plans and into newer higher-priced plans that would help subsidize  people with pre-existing conditions. This is a knife in the back of the American people and it has Obama's fingerprints on it.
President Obama repeatedly assured Americans that after the Affordable Care Act became law, people who liked their health insurance would be able to keep it. But millions of Americans are getting or are about to get cancellation letters for their health insurance under Obamacare, say experts, and the Obama administration has known that for at least three years.

Four sources deeply involved in the Affordable Care Act tell NBC NEWS that 50 to 75 percent of the 14 million consumers who buy their insurance individually can expect to receive a “cancellation” letter or the equivalent over the next year because their existing policies don’t meet the standards mandated by the new health care law. One expert predicts that number could reach as high as 80 percent. And all say that many of those forced to buy pricier new policies will experience “sticker shock.” [...]

The law states that policies in effect as of March 23, 2010 will be “grandfathered,” meaning consumers can keep those policies even though they don’t meet requirements of the new health care law. But the Department of Health and Human Services then wrote regulations that narrowed that provision...

Interesting: Obamacare website may have to be rebuilt from scratch...

What happened to the serene woman?

Apparently, you can add serious security issues to the many problems the Obamacare website suffers from. Don't give this site your personal information until it is completely fixed.

Via NY Post:
The chairman of the House Intelligence Committee said Obamacare’s Web site, already a tangled mess, might need to be rebuilt from scratch to to protect against cyber-thieves because he fears it’s not a safe place right now for health-care consumers to deposit their personal information.
“ I know that they’ve called in another private entity to try to help with the security of it. The problem is, they may have to redesign the entire system,” Rep. Mike Rogers said on Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” political talk show. “The way the system is designed, it is not secure.”

Democrats seem to have lost West Virginia...

The article is from the Washington ComPost, but it is well worth reading in it's entirety.
Why? “Honestly, because everybody in this county hates Barack Obama. That is the biggest reason,” Mitchell said.
Animosity toward President Obama runs high here. He lost Wyoming County by nearly 56 percentage points last year, despite the fact that registered Democrats outnumber Republicans by 3 to 1.
But as Mitchell and her friends talked more about it, their conversation turned to fears and anxieties that had little to do with party or politics. They discussed the well-paying jobs that had vanished with the coal industry; the crime and drugs that followed; the changing culture that mocks what they hold sacred.[...]

West Virginia exists as a state because it broke away from Virginia in 1863 and refused to join the confederacy. From Franklin D. Roosevelt’s era until the 2000 election, it was among the most reliably Democratic states, one of only six that Jimmy Carter carried in 1980, and 10 that Michael S. Dukakis won in 1988.
But in the past decade or so, “West Virginia has realigned politically with the Deep South, at least in presidential elections,” historian John Alexander Williams said in a June lecture in Charleston marking the state’s 150th anniversary. “Between the 2004 and 2008 presidential elections, a time when voters were trending strongly Democratic in other parts of the nation, 366 of official Appalachia’s 410 counties increased their Republican share of presidential votes.”
In 2012, that trendline cut more deeply. Obama lost the seven West Virginia counties he had carried in 2008. It marked the first time that a major party’s presidential candidate suffered a 55-county shutout.

Tweets of the Day: #handygate

In Germany, “Handy” refers to cell phone. “#Handygate” means cellphonegate.

Is it OK for the Obama administration to spy on our friends and allies?

According to this CS Monitor article, we spy because we can and we sometimes have competing interests with our allies.
As the scandal over the United States spying on friends and allies expands beyond German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s cell phone to perhaps dozens of other countries, one question lingering in the background is: Why spy on friends anyway?
The basic answer, some national intelligence and security experts say, is that relations among countries are essentially based on interests, and no matter how friendly countries may be, their interests are rarely exactly the same.
“We and Germany don’t always see eye-to-eye on some important issues,” says James Lewis, director of the Technology and Public Policy Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington. “One way to reassure yourself about the direction an ally like Germany is heading on one of those issues is to know what Germany is saying.”
Is this OK? The short answer is no. The long answer is also no. Aside from the problems it causes when you get caught, it's unethical. Let's compare this to an ordinary citizen's situation. A man is getting a divorce and in an ugly custody and property battle with his wife. He suspects his wife is talking about the divorce with his best friend. Is it OK for him to tap his friends phone if he can? Not only would that be wrong, it would be a felony in the U.S. If the friend lived in a foreign country, it might not be a crime, but it would still be wrong. You don't spy on your best friends.

Not so shocking: Maryland signs up 82,473 residents for free Medicaid, 3,100 to pay for Obamacare

If this percentage (96% Medicaid) hold up nationally, Obamacare is dead. I wouldn't be surprised to see  similar numbers from other states. Free stuff is very popular. Having your health insurance premium doubled to pay part of someone else medical bills, not so much.

This Friday night news dump via Hot Air
More than 3,100 Maryland households have chosen to enroll through the state’s online marketplace for health insurance…The state also says 82,473 residents are signed up to be automatically enrolled in Medicaid coverage on Jan. 1.
I would be very curious how many of those 3,100 who signed up through the state exchange got a subsidy and how much. My guess is most of them got a large subsidy.

Half a million in California finding out they can't keep their health insurance plan if they like their plan...

Never in history has a president lied so often to so many about such a major piece of legislation. It wasn't a white lie. It wasn't a fib. It wasn't a half truth. It was a bold-faced lie.

Via NRO:
According to this link as of December 2012, there were 491,977 covered lives in individual health care plans regulated by the state Department Insurance that are not grandfathered under the Affordable Care Act.
(If they bought a plan after March 2010, their coverage is not grandfathered.) This is a 2012 number, but if the number of people with private coverage hasn’t changed much in the last ten months, that’s half a million Californians who will lose their coverage.
Those canceled policies will have to be replaced with Obamacare-approved insurance

Planned Parenthood provides abortion without the patient ever going to the abortion doctor...

Planned Parenthood claims only 3% of its services are related to abortion and no federal dollars are used. If they use their offices and physicians for abortions and pay for those salaries and facilities with any of the one third funding they receive from taxpayers, they are being disingenuous.

Via DesMoines Register:
Planned Parenthood of the Heartland wants a judge to overturn the Iowa Board of Medicine’s ban on the agency’s video-conferencing method for distributing abortion pills.
Planned Parenthood leaders said Monday that they had filed two petitions in Polk County District Court. The agency wants a judge to put a stay on the ruling while considering whether to overturn it. The ruling is slated to take effect Nov. 6.[...]
Dr. Jill Meadows, Planned Parenthood’s medical director, said in a prepared statement that the arrangement is safe.
“Over the past 5 years, our physicians have provided medication abortion through telemedicine to more than 3,000 women in Iowa,” she wrote. “During that time we have received no patient complaints. Medication abortion is a very safe way to end a pregnancy before nine weeks. While the number of abortions in Iowa has not increased since we implemented our telemedicine program, the number of women accessing abortion before 14 weeks in pregnancy has. As a physician, I know that an abortion early in pregnancy is safer than an abortion later in pregnancy.”
Please remember Komen is funding Planned Parenthood again. There are other Breast Cancer groups you can fund.

Marco Rubio Retreats From Senate Gang of Eight Immigration Bill He Supported..

This is a step in the right direction for Rubio, but it is too little and too late in my opinion.  It's unlikely the Senate could have passed their crappy immigration reform illegal immigrant amnesty bill without Rubio's support. Aside from the fact it put's 10 million or more potential democratic voters illegal immigrants on a path to citizenship. There was no real enforcement to the border security provisions or other parts Republicans would support. It's likely Obama would just ignore the border security and E-Verify provisions just like he is ignoring the parts of current immigration law he disagrees with. Rubio was very naive to trust Chuck Schumer, Harry Reid and Barack Obama. Marco Rubio needs to do a complete mea culpa and apologize for his stupidity.

U.S. and European relations are at what may be an all-time low...

The leaders of Germany, France, and other E.U. countries are really angry over NSA spying. Apparently, we have been monitoring their leaders phones. It's one thing to spy on your enemies. Tapping the phones of your friends is just paranoid and unethical. Paranoid and unethical pretty well describe the Obama administration.
Fallout from allegations that the United States' National Security Agency monitored the phone calls of world leaders and French citizens continued Friday, as relations between America and its European allies hit new lows.
After reports emerged that German Chancellor Angela Merkel's mobile was monitored by the NSA, her chief of staff said Berlin presented Washington with an ultimatum: The United States would sign a "no spying" deal with Germany and France, as it has with the United Kingdom, doing away with mutual espionage.
Germany, meanwhile, is planning to send its top spy chiefs to Washington for talks with officials at the White House and the NSA about the spying allegations. A government spokesman said Friday the heads of the foreign and domestic intelligence agencies would “push forward” the investigation into claims Merkel's phone was under surveillance.
Perhaps they remember Obama lies during his June 19, 2013 speech at the Brandenburg Gate:
"Our current programs are bound by the rule of law, and they're focused on threats to our security -- not the communications of ordinary persons. They help confront real dangers, and they keep people safe here in the United States and here in Europe," he insisted. "But we must accept the challenge that all of us in democratic governments face: to listen to the voices who disagree with us; to have an open debate about how we use our powers and how we must constrain them; and to always remember that government exists to serve the power of the individual, and not the other way around."

Fail: Oregon’s Obamacare exchange still hasn't enrolled anyone...

Incompetence...

Via OregonLive:
Officials for Oregon’s health insurance exchange on Thursday reported some progress, but acknowledged a major fix to the problem-plagued site may not happen this month as hoped. The website still has not enrolled anyone.
Earlier this month officials at Cover Oregon said they expected the site to let insurance agents and certified application assisters to enroll people by Halloween.
Spokesman Michael Cox said that timeline is now a goal, rather than an expectation. “We’re not going to rush out a system that we are not satisfied with.”

Flashback: Michelle Obama Princeton Thesis: A Racist Behind Every Tree

Even at very liberal Princeton, Michelle Obama thought people viewed her as "black first."

WZ Via Politico:
Michelle Obama's senior year thesis at Princeton University, obtained from the campaign by Politico, shows a document written by a young woman grappling with a society in which a black Princeton alumnus might only be allowed to remain "on the periphery." Read the full thesis here: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4.
"My experiences at Princeton have made me far more aware of my 'blackness' than ever before," the future Mrs. Obama wrote in her thesis introduction. "I have found that at Princeton, no matter how liberal and open-minded some of my white professors and classmates try to be toward me, I sometimes feel like a visitor on campus; as if I really don't belong. Regardless of the circumstances underwhich I interact with whites at Princeton, it often seems as if, to them, I will always be black first and a student second."
