Report: Pastor Terry Jones arrested on the way to a Koran barbeque...

FOX 13 News

They have accused him of transporting hazardous materials and openly carrying a firearm. Hazardous materials? Well, it was a bunch of Korans...
MULBERRY (FOX 13) - Controversial Pastor Terry Jones was arrested this afternoon while on his way to the planned Koran-burning demonstration in Polk County.

Wednesday evening, Polk Sheriff Grady Judd said in a press conference that he warned Jones that if he broke the law in Polk County, he would be arrested.

"He did, and we did," Judd said.

Jones' vehicle was pulled over by the sheriff's office for allegedly transporting hazardous materials. Some of the 3,000 kerosene-soaked Korans were apparently inside a grill that was being towed behind a truck.

Judd also said Jones was openly carrying a firearm when he got out of the truck, which was a violation of the law.
This looks political to me...

If you look at the way it went down, it doesn’t appear political after all. Sheriff Grady Judd shouldn’t be impugned here – he has a solid record with conservatives. Check out this story for a more accurate timeline of the Terry Jones events. http://www.theledger.com/article/20130911/news/130919800&tc=yahoo?p=1&tc=pg . His group was denied a burn permit in a park that has no grills. His group could still have gathered. In fact, the Sheriff says he encouraged Jones & his group to come to Polk County & exercise their first amendment rights as long as they did not burn anything because that is illegal. Here’s a clip that includes part of his press conference. http://www.wtsp.com/video/default.aspx?bctid=2665914174001. The “illegal conveyance of fuel” charge is not trumped up – it’s illegal in Florida to transport any fuel in a non-approved container (e.g. gasoline in a milk jug) because of the danger involved. Towing a tightly-sealed smoker full of kerosene-soaked books is definitely safety hazard – that would have been quite the explosion in an accident.

I am not a supporter of burning anyone's holy books, but saying a grill with books soaked in kerosene is big safety hazard is silly. Kerosine is an oil is does not easily burn, much less explode. It's not gasoline. This is why people use kerosene heaters in their homes. It is considered a safe fuel. Now if you vaporized it and mixed it with air, you could make an explosion. I doubt that was a serious possibility in this case.
