A question for HBO about President George H.W. Bush's severed head

The explanation given was HBO used the props they had available.

“It’s not a choice, not a political statement!” one of the writers insisted during the DVD commentary. “We just had to use what heads we had around.”

Here is the question. Why in the world  did you have a severed  George H.W. Bush head laying around?
