Government Shutdown Avoided: Everyone Blinks

The battle between House Speaker John Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has ended with both men blinking. Nancy Pelosi and President Obama were not major factors as both skipped town.
(FOX News)- Congressional leaders, with barely an hour to go before a federal government, announced late Friday night they had reached a deal to fund the government through the end of the fiscal year.

The deal includes $38.5 billion in spending cuts while leaving the more contention policy matters, such as blocking funding for Planned Parenthood, for a later debate.

The Senate passed a short-term spending measure Friday night to buy lawmakers the time needed to prepare and pass the final budget bill next week. The House passed the measure early Saturday, which will be signed by President Obama when he receives it, according to senior administration officials.

Any government funding with so-called spending reductions that doesn't include doing away completely with the EPA and the FDA is worthless anyway. The way things are going now, they might as well increase spending by three trillion dollars a year. At least we can all have a hell of a good time before we implode. That would at least be better than this death by slow poisoning they're putting us through now.
