Sen. Claire McCaskill admits hiking taxes on the wealthy is really class warfare, but she claims it is about the middle class. McCaskill alleges Republicans want to raise taxes on the middle class. That is unfounded. The truth is 47% of Americans don't pay any federal income tax. If we are going to cut federal income taxes, they must be cut on the upper middle class and wealthy. Nobody else, besides businesses, is paying any significant amount of federal income tax. Many Americans receive more money back, in the form of tax credits, than they payed in. Democrats should keep running on the "raise taxes" theme. They don't seem to have learned the lesson of 2010. Sen. Claire McCaskill is up for re-election in 2012.
