The ridicule is complete with banjo music. Then, Press suggests we "take citizenship away from people born in Alabama." What prompted Press to act in such a moronic manner? He is upset that Senator Sessions said the people who wrote the 14 amendment had no idea how it would be abused by foreign citizens coming to America in the jet age to make anchor babies. As part of the ridicule, Press said of Thomas Jefferson, "God darn if Thomas Jefferson had only know'd that we would have been different." Press also used the same example for Madison. Shamefully, Bill Press doesn't seem to know both Jefferson and Madison had been dead for decades when the 14th amendment was passed. This amendment was aimed at preventing states from denying citizenship to blacks in the aftermath of the Civil War. The exact number of anchor babies born each year in the U.S. isn't known, but the number may be as high as 500,000. There is even a "birth tourism" industry.
