Of course they are lying. This is propaganda to mark the birthday celebrations of the "eternal president".

The Telegraph reported:

The rogue state, which cannot produce enough electricity to light its streets at night, said a "successful nuclear fusion marks a great event that demonstrated the rapidly developing cutting-edge science and technology of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea".

The official Rodong Sinmun newspaper said North Korean scientists were studying nuclear fusion as a way of obtaining "safe and environmentally-friendly new energy" and that the North had developed the technology by itself...
