Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio) canceled a town hall on the new healthcare law Tuesday because of concerns about the security of the event.
The congressman’s office cited safety issues at the facility where the meeting was to take place and threats to his office, according to a report by News21.
“We just thought it best to cancel it for safety concerns. ...
According to the CBO, when all costs are considered, the government takeover of the student loan program will cost taxpayers $52 billion. Someone please explain to me why Democrats did this?
(CNSNews.com) -- The student loan overhaul legislation signed into law by President Barack Obama on Tuesday could add $52 billion to the deficit between 2010 and 2020 when the cost of the market risks and administrative expenses of the loans are taken into consideration, the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) reported.
When Democrats claimed they were getting treats after Obamacare passed, the mainstream media was all over the story. Meanwhile, Republican were having their offices shot at and actual videotaped death treats surfaced. A man was arrested for posting YouTube death threats against Republican Eric Cantor. ABC and NBC ignored the story. We are still waiting for arrests in the alleged treats against Democrats.
NBC on Monday night squeezed in a few seconds for the arrest of “a Philadelphia man for threatening the life of the number two Republican in the House of Representatives, Eric Cantor of Virginia.”
Yet after the networks led last week with less-immediate threats against Democrats, they weren’t so interested in a real case of a death threat against a Republican as neither CBS nor ABC aired a word about the arrest and NBC’s Brian Williams gave it short-shrift after leading last Wednesday with Democrats as the victims: “It's getting ugly as anger over health care reform erupts into some over-the-top rhetoric, including threats now against members of Congress.”
Democrats instructed the CBO to not include the "Doc Fix" cost when they calculated the cost savings of Obamacare because it would have caused the bill to be calculated as increasing the deficit. They even put out a memo urging Democrats to not talk about the "Doc Fix" cost. Medicare reimbursements are scheduled to be cut 21% at the first of April. Now that Obamacare has passed, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has decided to not implement this cut in anticipation Congress will pass a bill restoring this money. Republicans should use every avenue to block this payoff.
The data from East Anglia's Climatic Research Unit (CRU) is highly suspect due to revelations exposed by Climategate. Now, a FOIA request has revealed NASA scientists believe their temperature data is less accurate than East Anglia's Climatic Research Unit. No wonder belief in man-made global warming is in serious decline.
NASA was able to put a man on the moon, but the space agency can't tell you what the temperature was when it did. By its own admission, NASA's temperature records are in even worse shape than the besmirched Climate-gate data.
E-mail messages obtained by a Freedom of Information Act request reveal that NASA concluded that its own climate findings were inferior to those maintained by both the University of East Anglia's Climatic Research Unit (CRU) -- the scandalized source of the leaked Climate-gate e-mails -- and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's National Climatic Data Center.
"NASA's temperature data is worse than the Climate-gate temperature data. According to NASA," wrote Christopher Horner, a senior fellow at the Competitive Enterprise Institute who uncovered the e-mails. Horner is skeptical of NCDC's data as well, stating plainly: "Three out of the four temperature data sets stink."
The Harry Reid supporter throwing eggs at Tea Party buses has been identified. He is IBEW union activist Jesse Walker. We should have known. Who besides rent-a-thug union members would turn out to support Harry Reid?
IBEW union activist Jesse Walker promotes Obamacare.
A new USA Today/Gallop survey has found a strong negative reaction to Democrats after they rammed Obamacare through Congress against the will of the American voters. American even blame democrats for the recent reports of violence.
There was a strong reaction against the tactics Democratic leaders used to pass the bill. A 53% majority call Democratic methods "an abuse of power;" 40% say they are appropriate.
In what may come as an ugly surprise for rapists and muggers, more American women than ever are buying firearms and learning to use them. Women are buying guns in larger numbers than before because of the same reasons as men- self-defense and concerns President Obama will restrict gun ownership.
American women are buying guns and taking aim...
A 2009 study found 70 percent of shop owners reported more female buyers.
The study, conducted by the National Shooting Sports Foundation and Southwick Associates, also found 80 percent of the female gun-buyers who responded said they purchased a gun for self-defense, followed by 35 percent for target practice and 24 percent for hunting.
CNN continued what has become a precipitous decline in ratings for its prime-time programs in the first quarter of 2010, with its main hosts losing almost half their viewers in a year.
CNN executives have steadfastly said that they will not change their approach to prime-time programs, which are led by hosts not aligned with any partisan point of view.
Insurer Prudential Financial Inc. is the next to take a financial hit due to Democrats takeover of health care. They are taking a $100 million charge. The list of $100 plus million hits grows almost daily. Anyone who doesn't think this will cost jobs has no understanding of business. Companies will be forced into additional cost cutting measures. The first place most companies look is labor. Unlike the imaginary jobs created by the 'Stimulus." These will be real jobs lost. AP reported:
Prudential joins a growing list of companies that have said they will take accounting charges because of the health care bills. AT&T said last week it would take a $1 billion charge in the first quarter. AK Steel Corp., 3M Co., Caterpillar Inc., Deere & Co. and Valero Energy have also said they would take smaller charges.
Have Democrats intentionally created a private insurance death spiral? The answer appears to be yes. Although there are penalties in Obamacare for failing to purchase insurance, the enforcement has no teeth. The IRS will collect taxes fines from Americans who fail to purchase insurance. Normally, the IRS is much feared for their ability to collect money from delinquent taxpayers by assessments, liens or seizures. These enforcement provisions are prohibited for collection of fines for lack of coverage. The IRS can't even charge interest on the past due amount. These collection prohibitions were deliberately written into law. If you fail to pay the lack of coverage fine, the IRS can only deduct it from your refund, if you get a refund. Of course, many people can adjust their withholding to eliminate the possibility of a refund. What does this mean? Insurance companies can't penalize people for pre-existing conditions starting in 2014. If everyone isn't forced to buy insurance, people can wait until they face huge medical bills and then enter the system for coverage. This will be like being able to purchase car insurance after a wreck and have the damages payed for. There is a strong disincentive to pay into the system during healthy periods. Without healthy people and young people being forced into the system, private health insurance costs will skyrocket. Then, Democrats will clamor for the public option.
When states tried to fix their individual health insurance markets—the marketplace for those who don't get insurance through their employers—the initial idea was to simply prohibit insurers from discriminating against individuals with preexisting conditions. But that caused what insurers called a "death spiral"—ever higher premiums as relatively healthy people decided to wait until they were sick to buy insurance, leaving smaller and smaller pools of more and more expensive individuals.
The solution to this problem, both in Massachusetts and in ObamaCare, was the individual mandate...
The penalty [for not purchasing insurance] applies to any period the individual does not maintain minimum essential coverage and is determined monthly...
Democrats ridiculed the the idea Obamacare would create death panels for the elderly. Now that Obamacare has passed, Leftie Paul Krugman is touting the savings of those death panels.
PAUL KRUGMAN, NEW YORK TIMES: Think about people on the right. They’re simultaneously screaming, they’re going to send all of the old people to death panels and it’s not going to save any money. That’s a contradictory point of view.
TAPPER: Death panels would save money, theoretically.
KRUGMAN: The advisory path has the ability to make more or less binding judgments on saying this particular expensive treatment actually doesn’t do any good medically and so we’re not going to pay for it. That is actually going to save quite a lot of money. We don’t know how much yet. The CBO gives it very little credit. But most of the health care economists I talk to think it’s going to be a really major cost saving.
Noted Environmentalist James Lovelock and developer of the Gaia theory thinks democracy is getting in the way of fighting climate change. Also, he thinks Humans are too stupid to prevent climate change. All hail our new supreme leader Al Gore.
Humans are too stupid to prevent climate change from radically impacting on our lives over the coming decades.
This is the stark conclusion of James Lovelock... "I don't think we're yet evolved to the point where we're clever enough to handle a complex a situation as climate change," said Lovelock in his first in-depth interview since the theft of the UEA emails last November.
"The inertia of humans is so huge that you can't really do anything meaningful." One of the main obstructions to meaningful action is "modern democracy", he added.
The ‘Stupak 11′ requested $3.4 billion in earmarks the next day after their crucial vote to allow the government to take over our health care. Undoubtedly, this request will be looked on favorably by the Democratic leadership in Congress. I have no proof this is a 'Quid Pro Quo,' but it stinks to high heaven.
A day after Rep. Bart Stupak, D-Mich., and ten other House members compromised on their pro-life position to deliver the necessary yes-votes to pass health care reform, the “Stupak 11″ released their fiscal year 2011 earmark requests, which total more than $3.4 billion...
Stupak requested more than $578 million in earmarks, including $125 million for a replacement lock on the Sault Ste. Marie, $25.6 million to build a federal courthouse in Marquette, Mich., $15 million to repaint the Mackinac Bridge and $800,000 to preserve the Quincy Mining Company smelter near Hancock in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
“Norman Leboon, the man now charged with threatening to kill Rep. Eric Cantor (R-Va.) was arrested over the weekend, according to a statement released by the U.S. Attorney in Philadelphia Monday.
Leboon made the threat in a YouTube video in which he leveled a variety of offensive and incendiary statements at Cantor and his family.
“My Congressman Eric Cantor, and you and your cupcake evil wife,”...
The Hill has the scoop on this left-wing extremist.
"We are researching the matter, and any donations made to the DNC or the Obama campaign by Mr. Leboon will be donated to charity," a DNC official said.
Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings show that Leboon had made two, separate donations to then-Sen. Barack Obama's (D-Ill.) presidential campaign. The two donations, made in June of 2008, total $505. These are the only federal contributions on record for Leboon.
STATEMENT: “We've got a philosophical difference, which we've debated repeatedly, and that is that Senator Clinton believes the only way to achieve universal health care is to force everybody to purchase it. And my belief is, the reason that people don't have it is not because they don't want it but because they can't afford it.” Barack Obama, speaking at a Democratic presidential debate, February 21, 2008.
EXPIRATION DATE: On March 23, 2010, Obama signed the individual mandate into law.
Two female suicide bombers blew themselves up aboard packed underground trains at the height of the rush hour in Moscow this morning, killing 38 people and leaving an estimated 62 injured, according to the Russian security service....
Female bombers, calling themselves Black Widows, and claiming to avenge the tens of thousands of their menfolk killed in Russia's two Chechen wars of the 1990s, have in the past been a feared aspect of Chechen terrorism.
Labor lawyer Craig Becker's nomination for a seat on the National Labor Relations Board was blocked in February when a few Democrats joined Republicans in opposition to his appointment. Friday, President Obama gave Becker a recess appointment. A new audio uncovers Becker's position on employer sanction against hiring illegals. He opposes it and thinks it is discriminatory. Doh! The whole idea of employer sanctions is to get employers to discriminate against illegal workers in favor of legal workers.
Florida's unemployment is now near the peak of 12.3 percent forecast for midsummer, according to Florida's Economic Estimating Conference, a group of state labor experts. The comparable national unemployment rate is 9.7 percent for February.
This may make some liberal heads explode. According to a recent Rasmussen survey,
voters believe the average member of the Tea Party movement has a better understanding of the issues facing America today than the average member of Congress.
It doesn't end there. Forty-six percent (46%) think Tea party members are more ethical than the average member of Congress. Of course, the bar is very low when it comes to beating Congress on ethics. Rasmussen reported:
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 52% of U.S. voters believe the average member of the Tea Party movement has a better understanding of the issues facing America today than the average member of Congress. Only 30% believe that those in Congress have a better understanding of the key issues facing the nation.
The mainstream media's attempt to label Tea Party members as racist extremists is failing.
Last weekend President Obama had a -20 Rasmussen Presidential Approval Index. The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the strong disapproval number from the strong approval number. After the Democrats passed Obamacare and President Obama got tons of favorable press signing it, his Presidential Approval Index improved to -10 by mid-week and held there through Friday. The change was induced by the strong approval number. The number of voters strongly approving of President Obama went from a low of 22% last weekend to a high of 32% on Thursday. Now, the bump is dissipating and Obama's Presidential Approval Index is back down to -16.
There was a 20,000 strong Tea Party rally on March 27 in Searchlight, Nevada. Sarah Palin was a featured speaker. How did CNN describe this huge crowd?
"Hundreds of people, at least dozens of people - we haven't gotten a count of how many people turned out there."
Democrats have deluded themselves into believing Americans will learn to love Obamacare now that it has passed. When Republicans promised to run on a platform of repealing Democrat's health care reform bill, President Obama actually said, "Go for it." In spite of the positive press and hoopla Obamacare received from the mainstream media last weekend and during President Obama's signing, there has been no polling bump. (see chart) More than fifty percent (pdf) of Americans oppose the massive government takeover of health care. Some of the good things Democrats claimed would take place this year have proven to be false. In their rush to write and ram through Obamacare, Democrats failed to cover pre-existing conditions for children until 2014. On the negative side, businesses are taking billion dollar write downs this year because their bottom line will take a huge hit due to changes made in this law. Millions of retirees may lose their private drug coverage and be forced into the Medicare system. Now that the bill is law, Democrats are admitting it will be used to control Americans and redistribute the wealth. Inspite of claims from President Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and other top Democrats that Obamacare does not cover abortion, the truth is coming out. No wonder fifty-five percent (55%) of voters support Republican's plans to repeal the law.
President Barack Obama has elected to bypass the Senate and unilaterally install 15 nominees, including the controversial Craig Becker to serve on the National Labor Relations Board, a move sure to infuriate Republicans..
Ah, yes. The bill taking over our health care has cleared Congress and been signed into law by President Obama. Now, the lame stream media can finally admit the truth. Obamacare will cover abortion.
Still cloudy is whether the new law of the land allows funding for abortions and whether President Obama's executive order is of any real (judicially enforceable) value. The answer to the latter is in little dispute. It is no. An executive order cannot override a statute.
As to the funding issue, well, it's intentionally complicated. And suffice to say, it shouldn't be.
Defenders argue that: (1) nowhere does the bill say funds will go toward abortion; (2) the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits federal funding for abortion, applies.
Scott Ashjian, a Nevada asphalt contractor running for US Senate in Nevada, is running under the Tea Party banner. He is a fake and Tea Party Express has released this ad telling him to "get lost."
Scott Ashjian most likely is a Harry Reid plant. The only hope of re-election Reid has is a three way race that splits his opposition's vote. AP has reported Scott Ashjian is facing felony charges over a $5000 bad check.
Earth Hour, organised by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), will see millions of people switch off their lights for an hour this weekend.
But the fall in electricity use for such a short period is unlikely to result in less energy being pumped into the grid, and will therefore not reduce emissions.
Even if power stations are turned off, the upsurge in turning the lights back on one hour later will require power stations that can fire up quickly like oil and coal.
Energy experts said it could therefore result in an increase in carbon emissions "rendering all good intentions useless at a flick of a switch".
A key tax break that kept retirees on company prescription-medication plans will mean dumping millions of seniors onto Medicare. Companies will lose large amounts of money this year and be forced to change their benefit plans.
"As a result of this legislation, including the additional tax burden, AT&T will be evaluating prospective changes to the active and retiree health care benefits offered by the company," AT&T said in a filing with the government on Friday
Caterpillar Inc. and Deere & Co. have already announced this bill will cost them $100 million and $150 million respectively.
Why is this not surprising? President Obama described former Weather Underground terrorist Bill Ayers as “a guy who lives in my neighborhood.” Ayers is also a guy who has visited the White House at least three times since Obama took office. The former Weather Underground terrorist joins other Obama favorites; such as Jeremiah Wright and Louis Farrakhan. It must have been great for President Obama to be reunited with his Chicago buddies.
There are consequential, disturbing revelations to be found when flipping through the visitors list at the White House. Bill Ayers is there no less than three times, Louis Farrakhan at least once, but there is also a separate visit for his family, and the infamous hater Jeremiah Wright is there at least five times (four times under Jeremy, one under Jeremiah). Contemptuously, Farrakhan’s visit is tagged as “MEETING WITH SCIENCE CLUB MEMBERS”…Al Sharpton is there twice, and Jesse "hymietown" Jackson is a regular (six times).
It bears noting that despite solid evidence that Obama was tight with these haters, inciters and revolutionaries and traitors, he distanced himself from them during the campaign and outright lied about his ties to them. Mr. Ayers, for example, was dismissed as “a guy who lives in my neighborhood” and “somebody who worked on education issues in Chicago that I know.”
After ignoring the will of the American people and passing the most partisan major legislation ever by lying, cheating, name calling and backroom dealing, Democrats want a civility pact with Republicans. The hypocrisy is astounding. So far, Republicans are taking the bait.
The Republican National Committee has rejected a proposal from its Democratic counterpart to sign a joint “civility” statement, POLITICO has learned....
Republicans see the statement as an attempt to force them to either reject the statement — allowing Democrats to say the RNC finds the incidents acceptable — or to sign on to something that the DNC would later wield against them.
Wayne Jones, chairman of the Clay County Democratic Party.
This isn't about illegal voter registration. This story is about actual vote fraud. Eight people were convicted in Kentucky of vote buying and changing votes at voting stations. Here is the story from the AP. Can you tell what party these vote stealing criminals belonged to?
A jury convicted a former judge and seven others on Thursday of scheming to buy votes for several local offices in an eastern Kentucky county.
The jury in U.S. District Court in Frankfort deliberated for nine hours over two days before convicting all eight people in a federal racketeering conspiracy. Those convicted on Thursday included former Circuit Judge R. Cletus Maricle and former school Superintendent Douglas C. Adams.
Most Kentuckians know the Lexington Herald-Leader is a liberal rag that shills for Democrats. I canceled my subscription over 10 years ago. The Lexington Herald-Leader did identify them as Democrats if you read to near the bottom of the article.
This is shameful. In order to bring the shame home, this video includes a short clip of Hitler Youth being indoctrinated. The similarity is undeniable.
This should not be surprising news. Fifty-one percent of homeowners who had their loans modified under a program designed to prevent foreclosure re-defaulted.
The majority of Americans think President Obama is a one term President. That's my kind of hope and change. The CNN / Opinion Research Poll has President Obama in a tie against anyone. Apparently, Americans are becoming so disgusted with Obama, they don't care who his opponent is. They just want him out of office.
A new CNN / Opinion Research Poll out this afternoon of 953 registered voters nationally finds Obama tied at 47% with any Republican candidate. Gee, if only Wendell Willkie was still around.
Well, at least someone is happy about Obamacare passing. Fidel Castro call it a "miracle." Castro also said it would strengthen the president's hand against "mercenaries." Mercenaries?
Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro on Thursday declared passage of American health care reform "a miracle" and a major victory for Obama's presidency, but couldn't help chide the United States for taking so long to enact what communist Cuba achieved decades ago.
If Democrats think this will be a winning issue for them this November, they aren't fooling anyone bit themselves. Fifty-five percent of likely voters favor repeal. Forty-six percent very strongly favor repeal.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey, conducted on the first two nights after the president signed the bill, shows that 55% favor repealing the legislation. Forty-two percent (42%) oppose repeal. Those figures include 46% who Strongly Favor repeal and 35% who Strongly Oppose it.
Unbelievable! House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said the lying, cheating and backroom dealing method used to pass Obamacare is the "Model for future legislation."
I reported yesterday Republicans were introducing an health care reform reconciliation bill amendment to prevent pedophiles and sex offenders from getting Viagra and other erectile dysfunction drugs. No one is in favor of this. Right? Oops! Democrats voted down this amendment because they didn't want House Democrats to have to repeat their tough votes to takeover health care. A ruling by the Senate Parliamentarian has torpedoed that plan.
Democrats killed an amendment by Republican Sen. Tom Coburn to prevent the newly created insurance exchanges from using federal money to cover Viagra and other erectile dysfunction drugs for rapists, pedophiles and other sex offenders. The amendment failed 57-42
"The vast majority of Americans don't want their taxpayer dollars paying for this kind of drug for those kind of people," Coburn said.
Democratic Sen. Max Baucus urged his colleagues to defeat the amendment.
House Democrats want to put their difficult vote to take over health care behind them., but they can't do that yet. The Senate Parliamentarian has ruled two minor provisions relating to "Pell Grants" violate reconciliation budget rules.
Spokesman Jim Manley said Republicans consulting with the Senate parliamentarian had found "two minor provisions" that violate budget rules. The two provisions, dealing with Pell grants for low-income college students, will have to be removed from the bill.
Once those provisions are deleted and the Senate passes the measure, the House will have to approve the legislation before sending it to Obama for his signature. Manley said he was confident the House would do so with no problems.
House Democrats should note this CBS poll released Wednesday showing 62% of Americans want Republicans to keep fighting Democrats takeover of Health care.
The most shocking revelation in this poll was 41% of Democrats want Republicans to keep fighting.
Rep. Dingell admits what the majority of Americans were afraid of:
Let me remind you this [Americans allegedly dying because of lack of universal health care] has been going on for years. We are bringing it to a halt. The harsh fact of the matter is when you’re going to pass legislation that will cover 300 [million] American people in different ways it takes a long time to do the necessary administrative steps that have to be taken to put the legislation together to control the people.
On Wednesday, March 24, the Right to Life of Michigan political action committee notified U.S. Representative Bart Stupak that his endorsement was rescinded.
In a letter sent to Representative Stupak, the RLM-PAC qualified how the endorsement criteria was no longer met...
On March 21, Representative Stupak failed to meet those requirements by voting for President Barack Obama's health care bill, H.R. 3590.
I guess Democrats should have actually read the bill before they passed it. President Obama will have a hard time removing his foot from his mouth this time. He said as recently as Friday:
"This is a patient's bill of rights on steroids," the president said Friday at George Mason University in Virginia. "Starting this year, thousands of uninsured Americans with pre-existing conditions will be able to purchase health insurance, some for the very first time. Starting this year, insurance companies will be banned forever from denying coverage to children with pre-existing conditions."
Under the new law, insurance companies still would be able to refuse new coverage to children because of a pre-existing medical problem, said Karen Lightfoot, spokeswoman for the House Energy and Commerce Committee, one of the main congressional panels that wrote the bill Obama signed into law Tuesday...
Full protection for children would not come until 2014...
Another mysterious billboard has appeared. This time it is near Ennis, TX. This billboard features a picture of former President Jimmy Carter and is captioned "Miss Me Yet?"
Democrats are using reconciliation to pass completely partisan takeover of American's health care. Reconciliation has never been used for any partisan measure of this scope. It is unprecedented. Senate Republicans can not completely stop this process because they lack the numbers. However, they can make Democrats pay for their arrogance. If the reconciliation bill is changed in any tiny way, it has to go back to the House for another vote. This forces Democrats to vote against any amendment Republicans introduce. So, Republicans will introduce an amendment to ban giving Viagra to convicted child molesters and other sex offenders. Democrats will have to vote to keep the Viagra flowing.
The idea is that by securing even a slight adjustment in the language, the Senate will have to send the bill back to the House of Representatives for reconsideration. Drawing out the process makes it more likely for it to be tripped up.
On Tuesday, the GOP put its strategy into action, with Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okl.) introducing an amendment beyond agreeable. Titled “No Erectile Dysfunction Drugs To Sex Offenders” it would literally prohibit convicted child molesters, rapists, and sex offenders from getting erectile dysfunction medication from their health care providers.
Obama hasn't yet signed the Executive Order he negotiated with Rep. Bart Stupak. Perhaps he will quietly sign it later this week when his liberal supporters are distracted and looking the other way. Wouldn't it be interesting if Obama double-crossed Stupak?
President Obama signed the Senate health care bill into law Tuesday. He did not sign the executive order on abortion negotiated with Michigan Democratic Congressman Bart Stupak in an 11th-hour arrangement that may well have saved the entire health care reform effort.
A White House official told Fox, Obama will not sign the Executive Order Tuesday and has set no specific date to do so....
In return, they want to give you a nice "goobermint" government pension. If you think this could never happen, please remember who the top visitor to the White House was last year. It was SEIU President Andrew Stern. Apparently, the SEIU is very concerned something could happen to your 401k and you would be better off if it were rolled into a new government controlled pension plan. Undoubtedly, the government could issue you some worthless IOU's for your money. The SEIU is also concerned about the 7 of 10 workers who don't have a 401k. Perhaps they would be willing to share yours with these unfortunate individuals.
One of the nation's largest labor unions, the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), is promoting a plan that will centralize all retirement plans for American workers, including private 401(k) plans, under one new "retirement system" for the United States.
In effect, government pensions for everyone, not unlike the European system and regardless of personal choice.
...Three in 10 have only a 401(k) or similar savings plan, and the rest of us are totally out of luck," said Eisenbrey.
Fortunately, only people making over $250k a year indoor tan. President Obama's Pledge Never to Raise Taxes on Anyone Making Less Than 250 000 a Year (video)
Whodathunkit. The people who wrote the Obamacare legislation wrote an exemption for themselves. Geez.
One such surprise is found on page 158 of the legislation, which appears to create a carveout for senior staff members in the leadership offices and on congressional committees, essentially exempting those senior Democrat staffers who wrote the bill from being forced to purchase health care plans in the same way as other Americans.
President Obama has achieved a new low in job approval according to this CNN poll. Only 46% approve of Obama's job performance. Fifty-one percent (51%) disapprove. To quote President Obama after his socialization of our health care passed Congress, "This is what change looks like." President Obama and Democrats should expect to see a lot of "change" this November.
According to a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll released Monday, 51 percent of respondents disapprove of Obama's job performance and 46 percent approve of it.
Obama's approval rating has dropped steadily each month since December, when it was 54 percent. His highest approval rating in a CNN poll was 76 percent in February 2009 shortly after he took office.
President Obama has failed at his promise to not raise taxes on those making less than $250k a year, but he has certainly succeeded on his promise to spread the wealth. The Health care reform bill Obama will sign today redistributes $478 billion.
The British released Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi because he allegedly only had three months to live. Seven months later, we hear he is doing well and could live another five years. This is a shameful episode in British history.
The Lockerbie bomber is at the center of a fresh row after it emerged he is taking a cancer drug that could keep him alive for five more years, The Sun reported.
Terminally ill Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi was prescribed chemotherapy treatment Taxotere after returning to Libya.
But on Sunday it was reported he wasn't given the drug while he was in Greenock prison in Scotland - amid claims he could have been kept behind bars...
Ahoy, Matey! Your political career is sunk. Kiss your House seat goodbye. A better analogy might have been the Jonestown mass suicide. President Obama and Nancy Pelosi mixed up a big old batch of toxic Kool-aid and convinced 219 House Democrats to drink up.
Nothing like tossing down some brews after selling your morality and constituents out. Roll Call is reporting Rep. Bart Stupak partied with his Democrat buddies into the wee hours of the morning after caving in on his demands stronger anti-abortion language be added to the Democrats health care bill. Reportedly, Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.)kissed Stupak’s cheek. I wonder if a tickle fight broke out afterwords?
Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund President Marjorie Dannenfelser said the group was revoking its "Defender of Life" award to Stupak, which was to be awarded at its Wednesday night gala.
"We were planning to honor Congressman Stupak for his efforts to keep abortion-funding out of health care reform. We will no longer be doing so," Dannenfelser said. "Let me be clear: any representative, including Rep. Stupak, who votes for this health care bill can no longer call themselves 'pro-life.'"
Bart Stupak angered his liberal constituents long ago and earned himself a primary cahallenger. Now, he has angered his conservative and pro-life constituents. It is hard to see who his constituent base will be this fall. There are a large number of Independents, but they are notoriously fickle and over 60% opposed the Democrat's health care reform bill. What in the world could Rep. Stupak have been thinking?
