FactCheck.org and Planned Parenthood Agree Obama Lied About Abortion Being Covered in Obamacare

President Obama said in his health care speech to a joint session of Congress:

"One more misunderstanding I want to clear up -- under our plan, no federal dollars will be used to fund abortions, and federal conscience laws will remain in place,"

Liberal ANNENBERG Public Policy Center controlled Factcheck.org said Obamacare will cover abortions under federally subsidized plans. Planned parenthood agrees because they supported a deal so that at least one insurance plan offering services to federally subsidized insurance purchasers must cover abortion. This is called out in the Capps amendment which was approved.



From CNS:Pro-life advocates aren’t alone in their conclusion that the House bill will allow federally funded abortions.

The non-partisan Web site, Factcheck.org agreed in its own analysis of the bill.

“Despite what Obama said, the House bill would allow abortions to be covered by a federal plan and by federally subsidized private plans,” the analysis said.

Planned Parenthood, which was assured by Obama during his presidential campaign that his health plan “will provide essential services, including reproductive services,” has expressed its support for the House bill.
