Republicans ridiculed money put in the stimulus to save the habitat of the salt water harvest mouse. This money was not listed in the final bill. It seems Nancy Pelosi has arranged for the money to be spent anyway. The mouse habitat borders her home district in San Francisco. So much for the stimulus being about creating jobs.
Fox News reported:
During the stimulus debate on Capitol Hill, Republicans used a very small animal to illustrate a very large point. They mocked a plan to save the endangered salt water harvest mouse, whose San Francisco Bay Area habitat borders the congressional district of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Republicans were silenced when the mouse was not listed in the final bill that passed. But now it appears a little over $16 million of the stimulus funds will go to restoring two Bay Area salt ponds. That prompted House Minority Leader John Boehner to lament to the Washington Post that the stimulus isn't creating jobs, but instead, "is making sure American harvest mice have nice comfortable homes in the midst of the recession."
The Porkulus is a train-wreck- these jobs figures are far worse than the ones the White House warned us about if we DIDN’T pass the bill- so it was passed, and then unemployment soars anyway?
ReplyDeleteInstead of creating jobs, interest rates were bumped up, the dollar slid… and it didn’t help anybody get any work. Much of this is due to the fact that Obama’s agenda has mortified almost every machine of job-and-growth creation in the country.
The One couldn’t deliver the type of “temporary, targeted, and timely” bill that he promised repeatedly. And regardless of his image in the MSM, Obama simply lacks the the political stature to control Pelosi and Reid… who hit the trough hard, while bickering like children.
And the lack of GOP co-conspirators exposed Obama politically… this legislation now looks to be a HUGE gamble. And when all this pork-n-welfare fails to generate any real economic gains, the Democrats will face a bloodbath in 2010.
