Left wing "fascists" disprupt Tancredo immigration speech
Former U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo, tried to give a speech about immigration at the University of North Carolina. A group of protesting students shouted profanities at Tancredo Tuesday, broke a window and accused him of racism for opposing the granting of in-state tuition benefits to illegal immigrants. reportedly, some teachers were encouraging these violent intolerant students. According to upi.com, here is what Tancredo said about the protesters.
"Fascists are fascists," Tancredo told the newspaper. "Their actions were probably the best speech I could every give. They are what's wrong with America today. When all you can do is yell epithets, that means you are intellectually bankrupt."
Thank you T1. In BP's defense though, it was apparently Tancredo who described them as fascists.
Free speech may give you the right to be obnoxious, but it doesn't mean you should seek to do so. I imagine most of the people there wanted to hear what the man said. I don't see how using your free speech for the purpose of preventing someone else's is defensible either. I know Tancredo has put forward a bill that would cut FEMA relief funds to places like New York city and Los Angeles under the justification that they are too soft on illegal immigration, but that lack of citizenship waiver for out of state tuition is just dumb. They should make an out of country tuition hike if there is a problem with the current regulation.
One of my problems with the right is their branding of idots as something other than idiots.
ReplyDeleteAccuracy in description matters BG.
